Western Monmouth County Newcomers Club was started in December 1969. After moving to the area and finding it difficult to meet people with common interests, Monica Hildner placed an ad in the local newspaper seeking others who were new to the area. The response was, for her, overwhelming. Approximately 26 people responded to the ad, so the club began.
As the years went by, the Newcomers Club grew rapidly into an organization that has brought women in the Western Monmouth County area together for social and civic activities. As the club enters its 50th year, the club has changed to meet diverse needs and hectic schedules. Friendship and companionship is offered to our members by many events designed to bring them together on a social basis. The Newcomers Club provides an outlet for social, civic and charitable activities.
